Memories of Barry Mayson

Welcome to our site!

As you look to the future, remember, there comes a time in your life when you  realize who matters, who never did matter, who won’t matter anymore, and who always will matter. So don’t worry about people from your past, keep your eyes on Jesus, stand fast, as there’s a reason why some people didn’t make it to your future.  Make the most of today.  Yesterday is already over and tomorrow may never come.

Matthew 10:14 "And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet."

Luke 9:26 "But Jesus said to him, no one having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

Your brother in the fight. . . . Bruce Potenza. . . SFFS!

Explaining who we are, is sometimes best understood by explaining who we are not. We are not another motorcycle ministry, club or organization or church group. Those of us who are bikers, do not necessarily wear a 3-piece or any typical back patch to identify ourselves. Some do wear a small Surviving Saints patch on their vests. Until I joined the Forgiven Brothers M/M, I wore mine right next to the "S.F.F.S." patch on the lower back of my vest.     We're not much for show. There are plenty of clubs, motorcycle ministries, church groups, etc. to choose from if that's what you are wanting. In our hearts, we simply are and always will be Surviving Saints. A band of individual believers dedicated to seeking God's direction for our lives while reaching out to one another for fellowship and brotherhood. With our knowledge gained from past successes and failures, we hope and pray that, with God's direction, we may be able to touch some areas of ministry that have been overlooked and reach souls heretofore left untouched by the gospel message of salvation through Jesus.

Again, welcome to our site. In brief, the story behind the name is my story and that of many others. Surviving Saints is for surviving Christians worldwide, bikers yes, but others also, who have been through the battles and come out still fighting and still surviving as Saints, still dedicated to serving God; not discouraged, no longer disillusioned, but wiser and staid, steady, persevering, enduring, remaining to the end when we see Jesus face to face. There is something to be said for us battle weary soldiers having taken the brunt of abuse not only from the world, but also sometimes from brothers and sisters in Christ. There is a place beyond the initial salvation experience that comes to us when we have faced some of life’s dragons and find ourselves still standing strong for God.

This is for those who have served God and been through the fire, suffered attacks from the enemy, and learned to give knowledgeable consideration to the past without allowing it to hold them back. If this makes no sense to you, I understand. But for some, it will be a shaft of light, a signal fire, and a call to respond in an otherwise lonely world. Surviving Saints are a hard band of believers to gather, because they are typically nomadic and are found in various walks of life and in various churches and ministries.  They may stand alone. They are careful and wise in where they choose to place their trust and appropriate their time, realizing that time is precious. The battle wages on, and we are on God’s side, doing our best to give no place to the enemy.

Like believers of old, we are a nomadic people.  As Surviving Saints, we take up the shield of Faith, the breastplate of Righteousness, the Sword of the Spirit which is the world of God, encircling our waists with truth, our feet shod in the Gospel of Peace, wearing the helmet of salvation, and having done all, we're standing firm to promote the truth and encourage others to live according to God's word and to truly be Christians - Follows of Christ!

Ephesians 6:18-20 "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak."
